Full description

This tour invites you to know Évora, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage City, due to its excellent preservation along the centuries. I can even tell you that little difference exist between walking in Évora today or some centuries ago. This town has been developing itself without losing its primitive characteristics. That's why it deserved this "prize" from UNESCO. Once we arrived at Évora we will do a walking tour and visit the highlights of the town. The roman Diana Temple, the Cathedral and the Saint Francis church with the famous bone's chapel. Free time for lunch in Évora. After the visit to Évora we will go to Estremoz, the capital of Marble in Portugal. Here you can see a marble quarry and learn how this stone is extracted from the earth. Regarding my tours, if you see a trip that you might like but it is not entirely to your taste we can make some adjustments. ---------- After leaving Lisbon, we will drive to Évora by the countryside roads of Alentejo, for a beautiful sightseeing tour by minivan. In Évora, we will have enough time to walk in its historical centre and "feel" the atmosphere of this town. We will visit the enigmatic church of St. Francis* and its Chapel of the Bones*. The tour will continue up the narrow streets of the old town to the Giraldo square where the Inquisition once had its headquarters. You will also have time to explore the millenium old Roman Temple and have a glimpse at the 12th century cathedral*. In the already distant 16th century Évora thrived with culture and tradition in its university. After such an intensive cultural morning it will be time to enjoy the pleasures of one of the most creative cuisines of Portugal in some of the local "alentejano" restaurants that I will help you to choose. We will leave Évora to Estremoz, where you can see a marble quarry and learn how it is extracted.Small stop in Estremoz. --------- What's not covered: ●Entrance fees to the monuments. ●Meals of the clients.
