Full description

This West Region tour allows you to know the patrimonial "masterpieces" of Portugal. This tour goes to Fátima and the homes of the 3 shepherds. Fátima is the religious capital of Portugal, and an essential place of visit for many people. This is the place where Our Lady appeared to the 3 children on the 13th. of May 1917. Batalha and Alcobaça Monasteries(world Heritage Sites)are also included in the program. Nazare is a small town, rich in traditions, where the fishing tradition melts with the tipical gastronomy. Our lunch time will take place here. Óbidos the "Village of the Queens" is a medieval village that preserved it's character. A small walking tour will take place here for you to discover the romantic atmosphere. We will also taste the traditional and famous Cherry liqueur "Ginginha". Regarding my tours, there is flexibility for changes or adjustments to the programm. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We will start the day with a visit to Óbidos, a magnificent medieval town, which you will explore on foot, with your guide. After Óbidos it will be time to go to Alcobaça (option) to visit the famous12th century monastery. This monastery is not only a beautiful architectural example, but it has also the monuments in memory of King D. Pedro I and D. Inês de Castro (characters of a true romantic Portuguese story from the 14th century, very similar to "Romeu and Juliet") of magnificent stone handwork. For the lunch break the fishing village of Nazaré will come as the perfect spot. From Nazaré we will continue to the Monastery of Batalha, (or Alcobaça as an option) the biggest example in Portugal of the late gothic Portuguese style, where we can find a mix of the gothic style with the Manuelino Art - symbol of the Portuguese maritime expansion. Fátima and its Sanctuary, the site where Our Lady of Fátima appeared in 1917. ------------------- What's Extra: ●Meals of the clients. ●Entrance-fees to the monuments.
