Description
The "Cascais by Art" was born with the purpose of valuing the capacity of mobilization and the initiative that the group "Somos Torre" has had in its community. In fact, the Bairro da Torre has gained a new sense of community, reflecting itself, too, in intergenerational relations.
The museums are part of our history because they tell real stories, show feelings, memories and let you know a country, a culture, a religion.
What if we invite you to visit an open-air museum? A museum that tells the story of a community? A museum of colors, feelings, change, friendship, differences, and equalities?
What if we proposed to you, to walk the streets of the Bairro da Torre and know their true story, told by the paintings on the buildings that used to have only racist graffitis?
This is "Cascais by art", an urban art gallery that has transformed a neighborhood and the people who live there.
In addition to bringing color, joy and positive messages to the buildings, these true works of art, blocked the racist and xenophobic messages, gave opportunities to young people, brought people together and immortalized stories of this neighborhood that housed many fishermen from the Cascais Sea.
The stories of the Bairro da Torre are told in the first person by young guides formed by the group "Somos Torre" and by ImpacTrip, to dynamize this social business. In this tour through the streets of the Bairro da Torre, stories of transformation, overcoming and union are told.
At each corner, there is a smiling hello or a curious look coming from a balcony, and a spirit of community and friendship that for many years wasn't seen in that neighborhood.
To each wall brilliantly painted by urban artists, there is a memory, a curiosity, a history, and a great multiculturality. This magnificent art form makes known to all who visit the Bairro da Torre, its essence, its past, and future reality.
This is a different day, that will undoubtedly make a difference!
