Full description

I will narrate with passion about the times when Venetia was the name of a province in the Roman Empire, but also about Venice in the XXI century. The Venetian lagoon: the amphibious city tells its stories in front of your eyes and we will travel through the centuries in the historical city. Torcello, Burano, Mazzorbo and Murano, San Francesco del Deserto and the other islands in the northern lagoon (but there are also San Giorgio Maggiore, San Servolo, San Lazzaro degli Armeni, Sant’Erasmo, le Vignole, the Certosa, Pellestrina and the Giudecca just to give you more examples). We start from the first settlements to see also how it is possible living today in this particular environment, exactly like the natives do, in a sustainable way. It is possible travelling by public water buses (with the ACTV company) to perform our itineraries or instead you could hire a private boat -the cost of transportation is not included, though. Dedicated to the most curious travellers: we could start from Altino – on the mainland – to visit the most important archaeological site and museum dedicated to the Roman civilization in this part of the Veneto. If you would like to learn rowing in the Venetian way I can contact expert teachers. I can create your events on board of The Nuovo Trionfo, which is a working boat called trabaccolo, aged almost 90 years old and made in Cesenatico. I am a proud member of the Association keeping up this faboulous piece of history. At the moment this boat is under restoration. It is possible making little offers to contribute to it. We could visit a squero, where gondolas are built or repaired. There are only three left in Venice. The gondolas are entirely handmade and nobody knows the exact origin of this word, As regards the price for this tour, I normally prefer being paid per hour and not per person. So, if you choose this experience we should consider this when we agree on it.
