Full description

This town, unfairly ignored by tourists who prefer the nearby town of Venice, has much to offer to visitors. Enjoy this half-day tour and discover its wonderful and hidden corners, beautiful shops, narrow canals and waters. Find out its 15th c. frescoed houses, medieval arcades and typical barbacani, arches without a column support; See the magic corner where the town stands at the confluence of Botteniga with the Sile (mentioned in Dante’s Divina Commedia: “dove Sile e Cagnan s’accompagna“, Dante, Paradise). We will visit Piazza dei Signori, the medieval center till the Pescheria, the daily fishmarket on a little island, we’ll walk through Via Calmaggiore, the best shopping street in town, to go to Duomo, where we’ll see the crypt, with beautiful fragments of coloured frescoes as well as the fine Titian altarpiece. We’ll go to Chiesa di San Nicolò and above alla to the adjacent Seminario to see what most valuable in town: a whole room with astonishigly well preserved, brithly coloured frescoes painted in 1352 by Tomaso da Modena.
